Randomness Friday: Haunted by the Gram Stain...

Welcome to Randomness Friday! I feel as if its been forever since I've posted one of these, but I just missed last week. I feel oh-so-random this sunny day. How about you?

So... About the Gram stain. It's this procedure thingy used to identify bacteria by using their cell wall's chemical properties (peptidoglycan vs. lipids). *suddenly feels a smidge smarter* Purple dye and red dye are used in the procedure, and it can be pretty messy if you're not careful.

I mean, purple streaks all up my arm ya'll... I was not amused.

But since being introduced to the procedure, I've been seeing it everywhere! And by everywhere, I mean it. In classes other than the one class I originally learned it, I see purple and red everywhere, and I suddenly see a lot of info. about germs in my normal, unassuming life.

Knowing bacteria live all over me is just a teensy bit unnerving...

*stares at arm*
*screams*
They're aliiiiiive! S. epidermidis!!! Auuuugh!

Itchy eyes, running nose, sinus headaches... I even have to keep my distance from my beautiful dog!

This is why I am not the biggest fan of spring.
