Interview: Shaynie!

Today I have the honor of interviewing an amazing person, Shaynie from The Book Blog! This amazing blog is filled with reviews of clean books for young adults to read and enjoy without having to worry about the negative elements popular in today's society! I highly recommend visiting her blog!

Quick note: I will not be accepting interviews until the month of May. For those of you who I have already promised an interview, will be on schedule, and I apologize for any late e-mails or inconvenience. I hope to have it on full swing during the summer, though. Perhaps a whole week of interviews? We shall see, but I thought I'd give you all an update.

Now, what we've all been waiting for, the interview!

Prism: How did you first get interested in blogging?

Shaynie: Well, my aunt started a blog last year or so, which inspired me to start a private family blog. And since I love books so much, why not have a book blog? I found very few book review blogs that cater to middle grade/YA fiction. Well, there are some, but they don't care about keeping the books clean. So I thought, why not start one myself?

Prism: Summer or winter? Why?

Shaynie: Summer, definitely! I hate cold weather, rain, and snow. I could live in San Diego or Florida where it's summer all year round! There's nothing like the smell of fresh cut grass, lightning bugs, and a warm summer evening...ahh!! There's nothing more inspiring.

Prism: Are you a cat person or a dog person?

Shaynie: Well, when I was young, I loved dogs. I still do like chihuahua's, but if I had my choice, I'd prefer a cat. They're so soft and cuddly. :D

Prism: What is your favorite type of book?

Shaynie: My favorite books are Holocaust fiction. I really love reading/learning about the Holocaust.

Prism: What is your favorite fiction book?

Shaynie: My favorite fiction book is Phoenix Rising by Karen Hesse. From the jacket: "Part love story, part coming of age, this is a tour de force by a gifted writer." I couldn't agree more.

P: How often do you post on your blog?

S: Usually about 5-6 days a week. I review a book right after I finish it, and I usually read at least one book a day. Posting regularly keeps regular readers. :)

P: If someone gave you one thousand dollars, what would you say to them?

S: "Thank you from the bottom of my heart, wonderful person who bestowed to me so much money. Could you please give me a ride to Target?"

P: How do you review books on your blog?

S: I go to the library and pick up books with my blog in mind (meaning I make sure they seem clean, etc.) then I read them and see from there if they're worthy to be reviewed or not. If they have a lot of language and/or romance, I don't review them.

P: What is your favorite color?

S: Hmm....that's a tough one. But I'd have to say red.

P: Music or sports?

S: Music, definitely. I don't play any music (except a couple chords my brother taught me on the guitar) but I love to listen to music.
