Review of My Foolish Heart!

My Foolish Heart by Susan May Warren is a heartwarming story of faith, love, and healing. Isadora Presley has secretly been hosting a nation-wide radio show as Miss Foolish Heart from her home in little Deep Haven. She is a relationship expert and often has the answers to love troubles, although she has never experienced such a relationship before. She must hide out in her home because of a post-traumatic syndrome from a tragic accident that killed her mother and paralyzed her father.

Caleb Knight has recently had to deal with a disability he got when on tour in Iraq. He's risen above his challenges, and he is ready to tackle a new one. Literally. Caleb wants to get a new coaching position in Deep Haven, but he soon learns he has to fight for the opportunity with former local football star, Seb Brewster. Seb has scars of his own that will take courage and true love to heal.

When Caleb takes notice of his pretty neighbor (who happens to be Isadora) his interest is piqued. He notices a radio show that airs before his favorite sports show, and he calls in to Miss Foolish Heart when he doesn't know what to do. He soon finds himself falling for the woman on the radio, but wait! He loves the girl next door, that's it. Right?

First off, the premise of this book was absolutely interesting! I'm not the biggest fan of contemporary romance, but I loved this book. The characters are fresh and their journey through the pages of this book is beautiful. I also liked how the story is about Isadora and Caleb, but there's also some side stories with Isadora and her best friend Lucy, Lucy and Seb, and Isadora and her father. It all tied together beautifully. The ideas of two coaches competing for the job, a woman who can't leave her home, and a coach who hides his disability were just so unique! Love. This. Book.

The only thing to be aware of is that Seb and Lucy have a past with some shaded areas. It's clear that they were involved as a guy and a girl that they shouldn't be until they're married when they were young. Nothing bad; the book uses it as a premise for their pain and need for healing.

All in all, I rate this book five out of five stars. Recommended for late teen girls and up.

This book sounds pretty good... =D
Do you review much fantasy books? Like Narnia genre type things???

(not necessarily Narnia, I mean dragons, swords magic... that type of thing)

Thanks, Emmi!

It is a really good book. :)

Jazmine, I have reviewed fantasy books in the past (for example: books by Bryan Davis, Wayne Thomas Batson, Donita K. Paul, ect.), but I haven't really been able to recently. Lately I've only been able to read books publishers send to me (as opposed to buying them myself or borrowing them from my local library), and many publishers don't often have fantasy books available for review.
Is there a specific book you had in mind?

Blessings,
~Prism~

Nice work. I came across your blog while “blog surfing” using the Next Blog button on the blue Nav Bar located at the top of my blogger.com site. I frequently just travel around looking for other blogs which exist on the Internet, and the various, creative ways in which people express themselves. Thanks for sharing.

Ummm... maybe something like the book Inkheart by Cornelia Funke? she's not a christian author I don't think, but she's really good, and she originally wrote that book in German I believe.
And then there's also "Green Rider" I haven't started really reading it yet, but its a fantasy type book I believe. =)
Specifically Inkheart though, there's 2 other books after it. (Inkspell, and Inkdeath)

Jazmine, I haven't read the Inkheart series, but I've heard its really good. Hopefully, this summer will be peaceful enough to grab some time to run over to the library or bookstore so I can read some more fantasy books! If I do read it, I will be sure to review it :)

Blessings,
