Review of Motorcyles, Sushi, and One Strange Book

Life can get weird when you find out that the dad you though was dead suddenly reappears in your life, insisting you come live with him, unless, that is, your life was never normal with ADHD and a mom with bipolar disorder. Things can get a little crazy.
Delve into the story of Jessie in Motorcycles, Sushi, and One Strange Book by Nancy Rue!

Meet Jessie, who lives two lives. One, the life of a girl whose dad died heroically and whose mom is normal. Two, the life of a girl plagued by ADHD with a less-than-heroic dad she's never known, a mom who has two personalities, and a web of lies. Her world is soon torn apart when a man claiming to be her father talks to her on the phone.

Jessie is swept off with her dad into a new world with motorcycles, an uncomfortable job at a sushi restaurant, and a cute-but-annoying guy named Rocky. Oh, and some strange book she found on the way to her dad's home with the letters "RL" on the front and words in it that she can't help but soak in. How could a book feel so real?

This book was absolutely wonderful, and I definitely think this is one of my favorite books of all time. Jessie is more relatable than any character in a book I've ever read, as she struggles through her own problems as many of us do. Granted, some of us may not have to deal with ADHD as Jessie does or alchoholism as her father did, but we all have our own "demons". I have no negative comments about this book; everything the author did wove perfectly into a story that I enjoyed. Unlike the other book so far in the Real Life Series, Boyfriends, Burritos, and an Ocean of Trouble, Motorcycles, Sushi, and One Strange Book contains no bad language or extremely nasty stuff that's currently in the teen culture.

I find this book to be great for girls transitioning from preteen fiction to teen fiction. I recommend this book to gals age 12 and up.

All in all, I rate this book six out of five stars. It's really THAT good.

Your reviews are extremely helpful and I've been adding books to my long list of books to read from your reviews :).
